Assisi in the Snow

It started snowing last night and has been continuing throughout the day. It's too warm for much snow to pile up much but there's enough for the children to run around in.
In the Piazza Santa Chiara

The fountain still plays - it's not that cold really!

I'm writing this in the local internet cafe, a cup of espresso at hand, but driven mad by having the background of Vivaldi's Four Seasons - one of them at least - repeated many times. I'm also trying to make the most of a fast connection to download some large files - fighting for time against a failing battery since for some reason the mains connection isn't working.

All round me are the usual Saturday afternoon crowds hanging out here. Everyone shouting toi everyone else - and having mobile phone conversations at the same time. From time to time everyone stands up and some get their bags and I think they might all be about to go. But they just regroup and sit down again. There have been a few foreigners here - sitting quietly in the corners.

I've been trying to sort out some of travel connections - bus to Siena is easy enough - but train from Prague to Wroclaw is impossible to book from here or by the internet it seems. We hope the broadband connection at the friary will be fixed soon. But I doubt it will happen so easily.

Meanwhile the snow is still falling. At 4.20pm it's starting to get dark outside. Time to go back to the friary soon and start cooking dinner before vespers at Santa Chiara.
